ACTIVITY CENTER COORDINATOR

Children’s Musical Theater San Jose (CMTSJ), the largest theatrical performing and training organization of its kind in the nation, is seeking a highly experienced, enthusiastic, motivated, and trustworthy individual to lead, coordinate, and maintain all aspects of its newest program, The Lime Lounge.  This is a part-time, seasonal position.

The Lime Lounge is a supervised activity center that is offered as an optional service to CMT’s Rising Stars performers who are between the ages of 6 and 14 years old.  The program is held in one of CMT’s rehearsal studios in its Parkmoor Avenue location.  A safe, convenient, and fun environment, The Lime Lounge is a place for performers to spend their down-time during rehearsals, finish their home-work, or relax with friends and familiar faces. 

Candidates for this position will be expected to create weekly program activity plans; keep needed program-related supplies stocked and inventoried; assist in program-specific marketing efforts; manage, and assist in scheduling, volunteers and assistant room aides; communicate effectively with CMT employees and rehearsal staff; provide excellent customer service to parents and families; supervise and care for the well-being of each child who participates; collect, process, and reconcile program income; track usage trends of the program for the organization. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interest and knowledge in youth performing arts
  • An avid leader for the arts and arts education
  • Experience working with children, ages 6-14
  • Ability communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, volunteers, and community
  • Successful experience in managing adult and high school-aged volunteers
  • Detail oriented, with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Technologically proficient in the following programs: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook); Filemaker Pro, a plus
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred; ideally in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Arts Administration
  • Current and valid CPR and First Aid Certification preferred, may be required upon hire at employee’s own expense
  • TB Testing, Fingerprinting, and Background Check may be required upon hire at employee’s own expense

CMT is an equal opportunity employer.  Starting pay is $12 per hour.  Position available immediately.  Required hours are late afternoons and early evenings on Tuesdays-Fridays, as well as mornings and early afternoons on Saturdays.  Some Mondays are possible.  Schedules will mirror CMT’s performance rehearsal schedules and as such are seasonal and may vary from week to week.
